There is only one month to go before there are new deadlines for re-claiming tax. The time limits for claiming tax back have changed from six years to four.
Self-Assessment taxpayers – claim back for 2004/05 deadline 31/03/10, claim back for 2005/06 deadline 05/04/10

Remember that the 31st January is the online filing and payment deadline. The late filing penalty is £100. Any money owed to HMRC must be paid by the 31st January, including payments on account; otherwise you will be charged interest on a daily basis at 3% (current rate). If any amount remains unpaid by the 28th February, you will have to pay a surcharge of 5%.
